Amsterdam!

This weekend we went to Amsterdam and it was amazing. It was great to leave England for a few days and I actually found that the weather was much nicer! We had a couple of sunny and fairly warm days and it was great for walking around. This big shoe was outside a little shop right by our hotel.
Our hotel ended up being perfect! It was the perfect location for walking everywhere and we had our own room with three beds! After staying in hostels for a couple of weekends it was a real treat.
Friday night when we arrived we walked around and I fell in love with all of the charming canals!
We did a short walk around the red light district which was interesting.
We did some more exploring Saturday morning and eventually headed to the house that Anne Frank hid in during WWII.
We weren't allowed to take pictures inside of the house but it was so amazing. There were pencil marks that had been put on the wall to measure the girl's heights as they grew and pictures that Anne put up to decorate her tiny room. The last part of the tour was looking at her actual diary which was incredible. I couldn't believe that I was looking at the real thing.
More exploring.
Lots of tulips at the flower market!
For some reason there were cats everywhere and this one decided to sleep next to me at our table while we ate lunch.

Sunday morning we set out to see some museums. (Crown at the Diamond Museum.)
VanGogh Museum.
Sunday afternoon we took a beautiful boat ride along the canals.
Views along the ride.
There are more than 6,000 houseboats in Amsterdam! Some of them were so adorable they made me want to own one!
Amsterdam was great fun but I am already looking forward to Bath and Stonehenge this weekend! They should both provide some pretty amazing photo opportunities that I will be sure to document on here!
